Sustainability
This is how we work with sustainability
All of us who love to run in nature also understand that we have to be careful about it. We also want to protect sustainable year-round resorts and employees. As part of this work, we have joined Båstad Turism & Näringsliv's Sustainability Agreement.
As little unnecessary environmental impact as possible
A large part of the impact on the environment in connection with a race is the transport there. As a participant, you can travel by train and local bus to our event center at Hotel Skansen in Båstad, where you collect the number tag and go to the finish line. From here the buses also go to the start and after run, food and accommodation are offered here.
When we work with the arrangement, we think about and plan our transport to drive as little as possible and avoid unnecessary journeys. We coordinate our purchases and order local goods and services as much as possible.
The date for the race has been chosen in consultation with the Skåne County Administrative Board to minimize disturbance to wildlife. In close cooperation with the County Administrative Board, we follow up on any impact on nature along the track, if necessary, spans are placed over exposed places. So that the trails at the beginning of the race are not widened, the runners start in starting groups. Shoes with metal studs are not allowed to be used in the race. It is to protect nature that the number of participants is limited to 1,500 people.
We mainly use track markings that we can reuse, such as flags and signs.
At the energy stations, the participant sorts their rubbish into containers intended for this purpose. We encourage you as a runner to bring your own bib to use at the energy stations. If not, the mugs you use go to recycling. The mugs are approved according to the latest EU legislation. Other rubbish from the energy stations is source sorted by our officials.
It is absolutely forbidden to litter along the track, it leads to immediate disqualification.
After the completed race, we go through the track an extra time and make sure that there is no trash left, then we also pick up what has nothing to do with the race. Some cleaning also takes place before, we want the runners to be met by a clean and pleasant environment.
Leftover food and energy are donated to the organizing sports association or, if possible with regard to the expiry date, used at the next event.
Your fine medal is designed and manufactured in Sweden from Swedish wood. The winning vests awarded to the trail tour winners are reused as much as possible.
Good for both residents and visitors
Through our collaboration with the local sports association Hjärnarps OL, we generate important income for children's and youth sports. All proceeds from the children's race Hoka Kids Run go to the project Spontanidrott in Båstad municipality.
Once you're on the Bjäre Peninsula, we want to encourage you to stay an extra day and discover what else the area has to offer. In our channels you will find tips about activities and places to visit. Our hope is that more people will discover what the Bjäre Peninsula has to offer off season.
Torekov-Båstad is arranged in close collaboration with Hotel Skansen Båstad. We have moved the race to a time of the year when it is not high season. This contributes to an even occupancy of the accommodation facilities, and to restaurants and other businesses receiving visitors during what is normally the low season.
We also hope that the event will be a pleasant event for residents of the resort. Both that many want to run themselves or go out and cheer on all the runners.
The gender distribution in the race is 48% women and 52% men. We dare to say that we are very good at showing both women and men in our marketing and are often praised for our welcoming communication.
