Everything you need to know before your race

Before Race

DATE
Saturday March 23rd 2024

CLASSES
Women 21 km Competition
Men 21 km Competition
Women 21 km Recreational
Men 21 km Recreational

The reason why we separate Competition and Recreational is that those who sign up for Competition must be placed in the same starting group at 10.00.

RACE ARENA
Hotel Skansen, Båstad. Number plate distribution and competition dispatch are available here. Here is the goal. Here you want!

Car PARKING
Free parking on the large grassy areas at the Turistparkeringen in Båstad, follow signage and instructions from officials. From here, the buses leave for the start.
Regarding other parking in Torekov and Båstad, follow and respect ordinary parking rules.

BUS TO START
The easiest way to get to the start is to take the bus. You get on at the tourist parking in Båstad. Your number bib is valid as a ticket. The buses are only for you who will run the race. Please take the bus that applies to your start time! The bus will depart 50 minutes before your start time.

START
Harbor plane Torekov. The race will be conducted in five starting groups.

Startgroup Time The bus leaves Båstad
Competition/Motion 10.00 09.10
Recreational 10.30 09.40
Recreational 11.00 10.10
Recreational 11.30 10.40
Recreational 12.00 11.10

In the start list, if you registered early, you will find which start group you have been placed in. If you want to change the start group, you log in to your profile in EQ Timing (link) and change it yourself. Please note that it is only possible to switch to a starting group with free places (max. 300 places per group).

You who want to compete for the top positions, honorary prizes and points in the Trailrunning Sweden Trailtour, must start in the first starting group Competition.

FINISH
On the beach at Hotel Skansen, Båstad.

NUMBER BIBS
Here you collect your number bib and ask any questions. The number bib distribution can be found at the finish arena below Hotel Skansen, Båstad. NOTE: Number bibs can only be picked up here, not at the start in Torekov!

Opening times:
Friday 16.00–20.00
Saturday 7.30–17.30

To pick up your number bib, you state your name and start number to the staff at the number bib distribution.

NUMBER BIBS
The number bib must be worn clearly visible on the chest or leg. Feel free to bring your own safety pins - reuse is good! There is a timing chip on your number bib, leave it there. NOTE: Number bib is only collected in Båstad, not at the start in Torekov!

OUTNORTH TRAILTOUR
Hoka Torekov-Båstad is part of the OUTNORTH Trailtour, a competition series that premiered in 2019 and aims to give those who invest in trail running an opportunity for quality competitions with good competition. For those who want to compete for points in the trail tour, and for the honorary prizes, it is the starting group Competition that applies.

More about OUTNORTH Trailtour

Toilets
Toilets are available at the arena, the start, and at the energy stations.

EXTRA CLOTHES
If you want to leave outerwear (e.g. a thin jacket and trousers) at the start in Torekov, you take a bag, write your start number on a sticky note that you attach to the bag, and then hand the bag in at the designated place at the start. The clothes are transported to Båstad and picked up at the finish arena. Please note that it is not possible to leave entire bags and that we are not responsible for any valuables.

BAG DROP
New for this year is that you can leave your bag in a tent at the finish line and pick it up after the finish at a cost of SEK 50. However, we would like to see that those of you who have the opportunity to store your bag in your car or in accommodation nearby take advantage of that opportunity in the first place.

CHANGE OF NAME
Name changes can be made for a fee of SEK 200. You make the change yourself in the notification system. Here is a guide on how to do it. March 20 is the last day for name changes.

CAN YOU BRING YOUR DOG WITH YOU INTO THE RACE?
No, you can't. Partly out of consideration for other runners who may be afraid of dogs, but also out of an accessibility and safety aspect for all runners since large parts of the course are on narrow paths. So the dog can stay at home.

Swine Plague
To minimize the risk of African swine fever spreading, we all help each other. Therefore, consider the following:
• If you have trained and competed in an area where swine fever exists; wash and dry all equipment thoroughly before taking it out into the wild. Clothes must be washed at at least 40 degrees and air dried for at least 7 days indoors. The shoes must be washed thoroughly and air-dried indoors for at least 7 days.
• Equipment can be sanitized by lying in a sauna, over 60 degrees for at least 30 minutes. If you are not sure if your stuff is clean - buy new equipment.
• Never throw food scraps into nature - every half-eaten sausage sandwich must be taken home and
tossed in a bin!

During race

The course
The course is marked with flags and kilometer signs in the terrain. Some parts are really rocky and steep, take care! There will be more easily run parts further on where you can stretch out and run again.

NOTE: It is not allowed to run with shoes with metal studs, this is to protect our beautiful nature.

ENERGY STATIONS
Remember that it is important to continuously get fluids and energy early in the race! At our energy stations, you recharge with new energy so that you can continue to push forward. All have Enervit's sports drink and water. Bananas and buns are other good things you can fill up on. Drinks and snacks are also served at the finish line.

Feel free to bring your own cup to use at the energy stations, then fewer paper cups are used, they are recyclable - but still.

A good idea is to bring your own liquid, then you can drink continuously and when it suits you. USWE has excellent running vests where you can get fluids and energy with you in a flexible way that does not interfere with your running. You will find them in the arena at the number plate distribution.

CUT OFF
At the energy stations, a rope is pulled at a specific time. This means that it is not possible to continue the race after that. This is for your safety. If you have passed the last rope, i.e. Elestorp, in the right time, then just continue towards the goal - it doesn't close until everyone is back home!

Station Distance (km) Cut off

Elestorp 15,3 16.30

LITTERING
...along the course is of course completely prohibited and immediately leads to disqualification. There are garbage bags at the energy stations. Remember to sort waste - the mugs are recyclable like paper packaging and are thrown away in bags marked "Mugs".

IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH
If you are forced to break the race for any reason, go to the Race Office and inform the officials there that you have broken. This is important, so that a search effort is not started when you are actually sitting in the jacuzzi.

FIRST AID/MEDICAL CARE
First aid equipment is available at the energy stations. Medical care is available next to the arena in Båstad. The emergency number on your number plate goes to the Competition Management. In case of serious accident or illness - always call 112 immediately!

BACKPRISET USWE KOBRANTEN UPP
Directly after the energy station at Hovs hallar, you meet Kobranten, where from this year we have instituted a uphill prize for the fastest runners. The fastest girl and the respective boy will receive the Pace8 running backpack from USWE. The distance is about 160 meters and you gain 18 meters in height. See the track here.

After the race

SHOWER & CHANGE
In Strandängsskolan's sports hall there are opportunities to shower and change after the race.

AWARD CEREMONY
Everyone who completes their race receives Hoka Torekov-Båstad's medal. Honorary prizes to the top three in the Competition classes. The award ceremony takes place in the arena at 1:00 p.m.
